The heart of the book

A Christian case for challenging patriarchy.

What happens when the Bible is used to justify women’s subordination? In God Loves Pink, Jana S. Bennun confronts what she calls Christian misogyny: the teachings and structures that place women beneath men in the name of faith.

Drawing on her research into egalitarian New Testament scholarship, she makes a Christian case against patriarchy and complementarianism. Complementarianism is the belief that men and women have distinct, prescribed roles that reserve authority for men in the home and church.

This book brings together her findings and her experience in ministry, inviting readers to examine inherited interpretations and rediscover the dignity of women and daughters in Christ.

Jana S. Bennun

A journey through religious control, Christian faith, and the search for truth.

Originally from Czechoslovakia, Jana S. Bennun became a United States citizen in 2002. Raised in the Jehovah’s Witness tradition and the Watchtower organization, she came to Christ in August 2010 through what she describes as a miraculous conversion.

With more than fifteen years of work in ministry, Jana has seen how the Bible can be used as an instrument of patriarchy, both in controlling religious groups and in mainstream Christianity.

Her discovery of egalitarian New Testament scholars opened a new path of research. God Loves Pink grows out of that journey: a commitment to Christian faith, a challenge to teachings that diminish women, and a desire to give back to half the body of Christ the dignity it deserves.
